Youth aging out of foster care are often unprepared for adulthood.
Parents experiencing homelessness are often unable to move forward without safe childcare.
These are not separate problems. They are part of the same cycle.

Our Story
From Experience to Action
My name is Tawana Collins, and this work is personal.
I have lived through instability. I have experienced homelessness. I have been in shelters and seen firsthand what people go through when they are trying to survive while also trying to move forward.
I have seen parents who wanted to work but couldn’t because they had no safe childcare.
I have seen children being left with people their parents didn’t really know, not because they wanted to — but because they had no other option.
I have also worked with youth in foster care and watched them struggle to keep up in school after moving from place to place. Many fall behind, lose confidence, and eventually feel like there is no way to catch up.
These are not separate problems. They are connected. And they are happening every day.
Beyond the System Foundation was created because I knew there had to be a better way.
A way to support youth before they age out unprepared.
A way to support parents so they are not forced to make unsafe choices.
A way to provide structure, guidance, and real opportunities — not just temporary help.
This organization is not based on theory.
It is built from lived experience, real observation, and a deep understanding of what is missing.
And more importantly, what is needed.

Helping youth ages 16+ catch up academically, complete their GED, and transition into real careers through trade pathways that lead to long-term stability.
Childcare Access & Stability Program
Helping parents experiencing homelessness access safe, licensed childcare so they can work, rebuild, and move toward independence without risking their children’s safety.
